Allocation Of Pot Licenses Nears As Marijuana Supporters Await

“I’m sure everybody’s hanging in there,” said Gould, an executive of Large Meds LLC, of Chicago, which has applied for medical marijuana cultivation licenses in Madison County, as well as two other Illinois counties. “We already paid the application fee. We got everything set. We’re just in a holding pattern.”

Gov. Pat Quinn left office last week without allocating the cannabis cultivation and dispensary licenses by Quinn’s self-imposed Dec. 31 deadline. And new Gov. Bruce Rauner, who was sworn in on Monday, has remained mum on when he will finally award the licenses, and under what format, for the four-year pilot program, which entered its second year on Jan. 1.
