Licensed Cannabis Producer Readies For Retail Market

It will be months before recreational marijuana stores open up, but already newly licensed pot producers are building up the supply.

Nine Point Growth Industries is growing marijuana which will likely be some of the first on store shelves.

“We are very anxious to have retailers get open too so we can start having those discussions and find a place to put our product,” said Nine Point Growth Industries CEO Gregory Stewart.

The company was one of the first to receive a license to grow recreational marijuana under I-502. The state started issuing the licenses in March.

The marijuana is grown inside a climate controlled warehouse. The first batch of weed should be ready in 75 days.

“We are big into responsible behavior and responsible use, so I think that’s part of the push that I want behind this company along with growing the best bud,” said Stewart.

Earlier this week, the Washington State Liquor Control Board announced a lottery to hand out 334 retail licenses statewide. The agency expects to start issuing those licenses by July.

Stewart is talking with several potential pot shop owners about carrying his product.

Retail sales are expected to begin this summer.
