Plea Deal Reached In Case About Cannabis Growing

Krug, who was evading police since 2008, was wanted out of Texas, officials said. He was taken into custody and transported to Carbon County Prison, Nesquehoning. While assisting with his arrest at 613 W. Main St., police found and seized another nine marijuana plants and four firearms, along with various other growing-related materials. Charges will be filed in this case, police said.

Though there is a movement to legalize marijuana in the commonwealth and many people believe it has medical uses, Bogart still believes its a gateway drug that could lead people to other narcotics. Although some states are legalizing marijuana, West Hazleton Police Chief Brian Buglio cautioned, at this time, its prohibited in Pennsylvania and police are charged with upholding that law.
