Pot Plants Worth Over A Hundred Grand Discovered In Smyth County

The Smyth County Sheriff’s Department estimates the plants have a street value of at least $105,000. No one has been arrested at this point, but officers say criminal charges are likely to be filed. The full press release from Smyth County Sheriff R. David Bradley is as follows: “On September 24, 2014 one of my trained marijuana spotters flew over a couple of areas in Smyth County in which we have received citizen reports of possible marijuana grow sites.

A location in the Rich Valley area netted 35 marijuana plants that have been seized as evidence; I estimate the street value of this seizure to be approximately $105,000.00. This case remains under investigation and I do anticipate criminal charges. I encourage citizens to report crime and I especially thank all those that have called to report unlawful activities in their neighborhoods; together we make Smyth County a safer place to live.
